Let’s dive right in.
Using LinkedIn automation tools has many benefits:
- Automated messages and connection requests
- A/B Testing
- Tracking & Reporting
- Personalization at scale
What is LinkedIn Automation?
LinkedIn automation refers to using software to perform manual tasks on LinkedIn.
These tasks include sending connection requests, messages, follow-ups, building lead lists, or publishing posts.
In addition to saving time, automation tools can help you run personalized campaigns and collect data to improve your strategies.
Does LinkedIn allow automation?
LinkedIn’s policy on automation tools is this:
“To protect our members’ data and our website, we don’t permit the use of any third-party software, including crawlers, bots, browser plug-ins, or browser extensions that scrape, modify the appearance of, or automate activity on LinkedIn’s website.”
However, they know that automation tools are part of the ecosystem and help LinkedIn users succeed with their platform.
Is LinkedIn automation illegal?
Not at all!
But you can use LinkedIn automation tools as long as you respect the limitations set by LinkedIn:
- 200 connection requests per day
- 150 messages per day
- 150 profile visits per day
Takeaway: When selecting LinkedIn prospecting tools, make sure they stay within these limitations.
Types Of LinkedIn Automation
There are 3 types of LinkedIn Automation:
- Browser-based LinkedIn Automation
- Cloud-Based LinkedIn Automation
- Desktop-Based LinkedIn Automation
1. Browser-Based LinkedIn Automation
Browser-based LinkedIn Automation runs by simulating clicks directly on your browser and replicating human behavior.
It needs a Chrome Extension to function and take control over your browser.
Pros of Using Browser-based Automation
- Usually less expensive (no server costs)
- Easy to set up
- Offers many features
Cons of Using Browser-Based Automation
- You need to have a browser opened for it to run
- Other extensions can interrupt their work
- There is a chance to lose the data due to the cache being cleared
- Your company might prevent you from installing Chrome Extension
2. Cloud-Based LinkedIn Automation
Cloud-based automation uses web cookies to run your LinkedIn activities from dedicated servers.
You do not need to install anything on your browser or desktop.
Pros of Using Cloud-Based Automation
- Run when your PC is turned off
- Uses proxies and VPN
- Dedicated IP address
- Can manage multiple accounts at the same time
- Less likely to be forbidden by your company
Cons of Using Cloud-Based Automation
- It uses a different IP address than yours
- Can use LinkedIn API a lot
3. Desktop-Based LinkedIn Automation
Desktop-based Automation tools run their automations directly from your desktop.
They usually take the form of an app you install on your computer.
Pros of using Desktop-Based Automation
- Uses your IP address
- Can manage multiple accounts at the same time
Cons of using Desktop-Based Automation
- It doesn’t work if your PC is turned off
- Likely to be forbidden by your company as it can potentially access all your computer
It’s important to know that no solution is safer than the others.
The most essential thing to not having your account restricted is to respect LinkedIn’s limitations.
So, when choosing a tool, make sure it stays under LinkedIn’s limitations.
Types Of LinkedIn Automation Tools
4 types of LinkedIn Automation Tools:
- LinkedIn Messaging Automation tools
- LinkedIn Scraping tools
- Multichannel Outreach tools
- LinkedIn Marketing Automation Tools
1. LinkedIn Messaging Automation Tools
These lead generation tools are focused on automating LinkedIn outreach:
- Profile Views
- Connection Requests
- LinkedIn Messages
- Follow-ups
- InMails
They are huge time savers for sales teams, especially regarding follow-ups, which are painful to manage manually.
If you use a LinkedIn Messaging tool, you can pre-program your follow-ups:
- When to do the follow-up
- Which message to send
To personalize your LinkedIn prospecting messages at scale, you can integrate custom variables like names, company names, and industries in your messages.
2. LinkedIn Scraping Tools
These tools focus on extracting data from your LinkedIn or Sales Navigator searches and finding your prospects’ emails.
Exporting leads to CSV is not a native LinkedIn feature, so you must use a third-party tool to get the data.
A good way to export your target audience into your CRM or your favorite outreach tool.
The most common use case is to extract leads into CSV files with a scraping tool and then upload the files to LinkedIn automation tools.
The data you get from LinkedIn searches is not always really clean. That is why some of these tools also clean the data right after extracting it (e.g., emojis, capital letters, typos, etc.).
3. Multichannel outreach tools
These tools are all-in-one LinkedIn automation tools that combine LinkedIn scraping, LinkedIn message automation, and cold emails.
These tools are the most complex and offer the most advanced features. They allow you to automate almost all of your sales funnel steps.
On the one hand, you can do everything with one tool; on the other hand, these tools are not specialized in a specific area, so you might sometimes feel that some features are missing to achieve a specific result.
4. LinkedIn Marketing Automation Tools
LinkedIn marketing automation tools focus on automating social selling tasks:
- Publishing LinkedIn posts
- Comment and likes publications
- Gathering likes and comments for your posts
There are 2 types of LinkedIn marketing software:
- LinkedIn Publishing tools
- LinkedIn Engagement Pods
1. LinkedIn Publishing Tools
LinkedIn Publishing tools allow you to schedule your LinkedIn posts. This way, you don’t need to connect on LinkedIn whenever you want to publish something.
They are useful to content creators as consistency is key to success with LinkedIn influence.
They also gather metrics on your LinkedIn performance to see whether your strategy is working.
This helps a lot if you want to become a LinkedIn influencer.
2. LinkedIn Engagement Pods
LinkedIn Engagements pods automatically lets you get likes and comments on your LinkedIn posts.
It works like this:
- You publish a LinkedIn post
- You copy-pats the URL of the post in the engagement tool
- All the members of the group will start to like and/or comment on your post
The best way to use an engagement tool is to build a group with your colleagues or friends.
That way, you don’t need to send them a message asking them to like your post every time you publish one.
Put the URL in the tool, and you will get all the likes without bothering anyone.

“Outreach for LinkedIn”
Ability to automate sequences in Linkedin. Same principles apply as outreach. I think the granularity could be a little better or more clear. You now add all contacts to a sequence and hit ‘Play’ and then suddenly the platform starts to send invites. Would be nicer if you need to hit some sort of execute button same as Outreach. Also to me it was not entirely clear what the different function mean: Mute is that pause? stuff like that.
“Great CRM product for marketing and sales!”
Pros: This software allows our team to stay up to date and keep track of multiple leads for multiple clients all from within the software they provide. Cons: Sometimes there are errors within the system that creates delays in the process, which our clients notice and figure is a decline in our ability to provide our service.

“Great Automation Tool”
It is simple and super easy to use. I have also used other Linked automation tools, but LinkedRadar is the best among them. I feel the application takes some time to send each invitation, but that’s about it.
“LinkedRadar Review”
Pros: Campaign Management Export option integration with Sales Navigator. Cons: Felt bad for 2nd level of follow-up, there is no 2nd 3rd 4th follow-up options for client management.

“If you’re in B2B this is a must”
We use Google Analytics in order to better understand the behavior of visitors to our website. ExactVisitor tells us who they are. It gives actual value in that it shows us the companies visiting us, while finding real leads more easily. There were definitely a few moments of frustration with the implementation, but the ability to get quick support from the team made up for it. It’s amazing having access to help from people who will run through trouble shooting whenever necessary.

“Exactly What I Needed”
Using this platform is easy and efficient, saving me valuable time. I appreciate the customization options for outreach. I found it to be a great investment for my work! There are no negative aspects or areas for improvement that I can think of. The product is perfect as is!!
“Great tool”
Pros: That the tool allows unlimited contacts with potential leads. Great tool for looking people for customer development. Cons: With smaller audiences (targeting smaller groups) campaigns are not that effective (slow into contacting people and often finish the campaign to fast). Experienced some problem with downloaded audiences (some rules for CSV, that are not mentioned anywhere, unless you ask the support)

“Great if you want to run drip campaigns for lead-gen”
LinkedFusion is an excellent alternative to the generic social media lead generation tools you would use in the market. It is cost-effective compared to paid advertising on social media platforms. Overall, works great for our sales and marketing team.
“Excellent for automating outreach to very targeted Linked In audience “
Pros: The ability to target members of specific Linked-In groups is golden. Allows you to direct very fined tuned messaging to a known-good audience. Also, the ability to scale invitations is very helpful. Cons: The message sequencing is a bit confusing. Took some trial and error to figure what the circumstances for which a message is sent. Also, if I engage directly with new contact, I would like the system to stop sending a message sequence to that contact. I would like the ability to have outreach messages vary from day to day so as to not appear automated. For example, send 30-50 message every day, but not the same number every day.

“Accurate data for the win”
Wiza has been a game changer for me/my team. The accuracy of contact info saves so much time & so many headaches. Have used plenty prospecting tools that have led me to bounced emails & wrong numbers. You can trust Wiza won’t just take a guess at a contact’s info. Super happy with their data. Credits don’t roll over if you pause/stop your license. So you either use it or lose it in a month.
“Simple to use tool for scraping prospect contact info.”
Pros: One button integration of the information and transfer to crm like hubspot. Cons: I would like wiza to calculate the % of verified emails. Not just the count.

Real-time activity tracking can be done & reports can be fetched easily. It can also be integrated with your calendars & automatically blocks time on calendar when your lead would schedule a meeting from the salesloft meeting link that you can add in your Signature. I use this platform on daily basis which has helped me improve my productivity at work so far.

Pros: Salesloft is a staple in our business development initiatives. The platform makes it easy to organize your outreach efforts while continuously optimizing your methods.
