How To Export Your LinkedIn Contacts?
Here is my step-by-step guide to download your LinkedIn contacts:
- Click “Me”
- Click “Settings & Privacy”
- Click “Data privacy”
- Click on “Get a copy of your data”
- Select “Download larger data archive, including connections etc.”
- Click the download link in the email
- Click “Download archive”
- Open the CSV file “Connections” to get your contacts
1. Click “Me”
Go to your LinkedIn account.
Click the “Me” icon with your profile picture in the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
2. Click “Settings & Privacy”
Select “Settings & Privacy” in the dropdown menu.
3. Click “Data Privacy”
Select “Data Privacy” in the sidebar menu.
4. Click on “Get a copy of your data”
Click on “Get a copy of your data” below “How LinkedIn uses your data”.
5. Select “Download larger data archive, including connections etc.”
Click on “Download larger data archive, including connections, verifications, contacts, account history, and information we infer about you based on your profile and activity.” then “Request Archive”.
6. Click the download link in the email
In a few minutes, you will receive an email from LinkedIn with the subject: “The first installment of your LinkedIn data archive is ready!”
Click on the link in this email.
7. Click “Download archive”
The link in the email will redirect you to the LinkedIn page where you requested the data.
You will see that the button changed.
Click “Download archive” to get your list of connections into an Excel file.
8. Open the CSV file “Connections” to get your contacts
The archive you will download contains lots of documents. The data you want is in the “Connections” CSV file.
You will find 7 data points in it:
- First Name
- Last Name
- URL
- Email Address
- Company
- Position
- Date of Connection
Two things will certainly surprise you:
- The data is not cleaned
- Most of the emails are missing
LinkedIn only gives you the contact information (email, phone numbers) of the people who chose to share it with their 1st degree connections.
Here is the message that you’ll see in the file:
LinkedIn Message
When exporting your connection data, you may notice that some email addresses are missing. You will only see email addresses for connections who have allowed their connections to see or download their email address using this setting https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/privacy/email.
Evaboot provides a lot of data on this, especially since approximately 30% of LinkedIn users decide to share their emails with their contacts.
Plus, most of them will be personal emails, which are not GPDR-compliant for prospecting.
But don’t worry. I have a solution!
Bonus: How to get the emails of your connections
If you want the professional emails of all your LinkedIn connections you can use a tool like Phantombuster or TexAu.
These tools can export data from LinkedIn and then send this data to email finders.
The only thing is that these tools will only be able to do that for 80 contacts per day (150 contacts per day if you have a Sales Navigator subscription)
Why?
These tools need to visit your contacts’ profiles to get their company websites to find their emails.
LinkedIn imposes a limit on profile visits. So, if you have thousands of contacts, that will take time.
To do it faster, you can use LinkedIn Sales Navigator with Evaboot.
It allows exporting and finding emails of 2500 LinkedIn contacts per day.
How To Export Contacts From LinkedIn Sales Navigator?
Follow these steps to export contacts from LinkedIn Sales Navigator:
- Select 1st Degree Connection Filter
- Split your search into several chunks
- Export your search with Evaboot
- Download your CSV
- Find the emails of your contacts
1. Select 1st Degree Connection Filter
Look for “Connections” and “1st-degree connections” in the Sales Navigator search filters.
All your 1st-degree connections will appear on the right.
2. Split your search into several chunks
Sales Navigator only displays 100 pages of 25 results.
So, if you have more than 2500 results, you must split your search into several chunks.
For that, you can use the search filters or create a sales prospecting list.
Here is a video tutorial describing the process:
3. Export your search with Evaboot
Once you are happy with your search results, go export them into a CSV file.
For that, you can install the Evaboot Chrome Extension.
It’s a LinkedIn automation tool that makes your lead-generation process easier.
After you download it, the “Export with Evaboot” button will appear at the top right corner of the Sales Navigator page.
Click on it to open Evaboot and export your LinkedIn connections.
4. Download your CSV
Once your export is ready, you will receive an email.
Go back to the Evaboot platform to download your file.
In the file, you will find:
- LinkedIn Profile URL
- Job title
- Job description
- Company Website
- Company LinkedIn URL
- First name, Last name
- Lead Location
- Company Location
- Company Industry
- Company Size
- The exact number of employees in the company
- Years in position
- Number of connection
- Company Type
- Company creation date
- Company description
- Company Specialities (Keywords describing what the company is doing)
- If the profile is open or not
- Profile Picture
- Company Logo
More information than with the classic LinkedIn export.
That being said, lead data is not static.
B2B data decays by 2.1% per month, meaning 22.5% of your exported leads could be outdated within a year. Job titles change, companies evolve, and outdated information leads to wasted outreach efforts.
To solve this, Evaboot offers URL Enrichment: a tool allowing you to upload Linkedin URLs stored in your CRM to enrich your LinkedIn contacts with Sales Navigator data.
How it works:
- Log in to your Evaboot account and go to the “URL Enrichment” feature.
- Upload an old list of LinkedIn or Sales Navigator URLs.
- Name your CSV file
- Launch enrichment.
- Wait a few minutes while the data updates, then download your refreshed list as a CSV file.
And here you go!
We recommend updating your lead lists every 3-6 months to maintain accuracy. This ensures your database stays fresh, relevant, and effective—so your sales efforts never go to waste.

5. Find the emails of your contacts
If you want to get emails from your Sales Navigator export, click “Find Emails” next to the name of your export.
You can export 2500 leads daily with Evaboot and enrich unlimited leads with emails.
So, if you aim to get pro emails, you will go much faster with LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
And if you don’t have a license yet, you can use the Sales Navigator free trial.
Otherwise, you can export your LinkedIn search results from the basic search engine.
How To Export LinkedIn Contact From Search Results?
To export LinkedIn search results, you need to:
- Select 1st Degree Connection filter
- Split your search into several chunks
- Copy and paste the URL of your search
- Paste into a LinkedIn scraping tool
- Download your CSV file.
1. Select 1st Degree Connection Filter
Go to the basic LinkedIn search engine and click “1st”.
It will display all your LinkedIn contacts in the search results.
2. Split your search into several chunks
LinkedIn basic search engine is limited to 1000 search results.
So, if you have more than 1000 connections, go split your search into several categories using the search filters.
3. Copy the URL of your search
Once you are happy with your search results, you can copy the URL.
4. Paste it into a LinkedIn scraping tool
You can then paste the URL into a LinkedIn scraping tool.
You can use:
- Phantombuster
- TexAu
- Captain Data
They all work the same way.
Using Phantombuster, you can search their library for the “LinkedIn Search Export” Phantom.
They will ask you to paste the URL and get their Chrome extension for downloading your search results.
5. Download your CSV file
A few minutes after you launch your extraction, your file will be available for download on their platform.
Here is the data you will get:
- LinkedIn URL
- First name
- Last name
- Profile picture URL
- Current Job
- Connection Degree
- Location
- Share Connections
But less data than with Sales Navigator and Evaboot.
If you want the emails, you can only enrich 80 LinkedIn profiles per day.
If you want to get all the LinkedIn data and professional emails, use Sales Navigator and Evaboot.
Why You Should Export LinkedIn Contacts?
Maintaining an offline copy of your LinkedIn contacts is important for several reasons.
First, it helps prevent losing valuable connections as your network changes.
Additionally, direct access to this data allows more effective integration into sales and marketing strategies, improving customer analytics to fine-tune LinkedIn outreach.
This way, you protect your LinkedIn contacts from problems with your account. These problems can include hacking or technical issues.
By regularly exporting your contacts to a safe platform like Gmail, you can keep access to your professional network.

How To Use Exported LinkedIn Contacts For Business?
Exporting LinkedIn Contacts can have many benefits for your business advancement in different ways:
Here are some of them:
- Build lead lists
- Update your CRM contacts
- Find Candidates
1. Build Lead Lists
If you are a marketer, salesperson, or business owner, you can use LinkedIn to find and connect with potential customers in your niche or industry.
When you export leads from LinkedIn data results to Excel, you can build lists of qualified leads for your LinkedIn outreach campaigns.
You can then use this list to contact them on LinkedIn via lead generation campaigns, cold emails, or LinkedIn prospecting messages.
2. Update Your CRM Contacts
When using CRM (customer relationship management) software to manage your B2B leads and customers, you can import your LinkedIn search results to Excel and then upload them to your CRM database.
According to HubSpot, 22.5% of B2B data gets deprecated every year.
That is why it’s essential to keep your CRM up to date.
By importing LinkedIn data into your CRM, you can update contact information. You can also track your interactions and follow up with customers. This helps you nurture them until they become loyal customers.
3. Find Candidates
If you are a recruiter, hiring manager, or employer, you can use LinkedIn to find and connect with potential candidates for your open positions.
When you take data from LinkedIn search results to Excel, you create a list of qualified candidates. These candidates match your needs and preferences.
Conclusion
Now you know 3 ways of exporting your LinkedIn contacts:
- The LinkedIn Privacy Settings
- LinkedIn Sales Navigator Search
- LinkedIn Search Results
The Privacy Settings method is the fastest, but you won’t get all the emails; most will be personal.
If your only goal is to get LinkedIn URLs, use this technique.
But if you aim to create qualified email lists for your outreach or your CRM, then using Sales Navigator + Evaboot is better.
